Baby Registry Must Have: Aden and Anais Muslin fitted Crib Sheets available in February

Aden and Anais muslin swaddling wraps are a must have item on any baby registry.  These large, soft, lightweight muslin wraps were an everyday staple in my household when my sons were small.  The four-packs of wraps have become my go-to shower gift, along with a Sophie giraffe, for friends and family.  My four year old loves to snuggle with the dream blanket and we swaddle our one-year old up in the bath towel most days after his bath.   My point is, I just love Aden and Anais products.

We were over the moon when we learned at the ABC expo in September that Aden and Anais would be releasing muslin crib sheets.  The only let down was that they didn’t have any sort of definitive date for release.

Cybex 2.Go: My new favorite baby carrier

I’m just going to say it:  I think the Cybex 2.Go is the holy grail of soft-structured baby carriers. I think, you think I’m overstating it….but let me tell you, I’m not.  This carrier is the best. Best part: My customers agree.
Can you use an Ergo Baby with the child facing out on front? Can you use a Baby Bjorn on your back?

The 2.Go carrier has taken on a cult-like following at our store (well, that might be exaggerating a little, but it is very popular). I have women coming in regularly asking for the Cybex carrier that their friend bought from us, that their sister told them about, that their college room mate swears by (you know who you are).  It’s like our little secret.

Just what makes this carrier so special? It has the same functions as the bjorn (starts from infancy, carry facing in on the front, carry facing out on the front,) AND the same functions of the Ergo Baby Carrier (spread-squat positioning, carry on the front facing in, carry on the hip, carry on your back, weight up to 44 lbs). Can you carry your baby facing forward with the Ergo Baby Carrier? No, well you can with the Cybex 2.Go. Let me state it simply: this carrier does everything a Baby Bjorn can do and everything an Ergo Baby Carrier can do…with some extra features like a removable sucking pad included, easy adjust straps, German engineering and design, and it’s totally machine washable!
Cybex 2.Go Carrying Positions
We carry lots of carriers in our store and we are very hands on when helping customers decide which carrier is right for their family.  For a long time we had heard “We love the Ergo BUT we wish that the baby could face forward…BUT we wish that you didn’t need to buy an infant insert to use it from infancy…I guess we’ll just buy the Baby Bjorn and the Ergo.” Sigh.  We also would hear of women complaining that as their baby got a little older they loved the facing out on front position of the Bjorn but did not love the support it provided for them and that the Bjorn only help kids who weigh up to the mid-twenties…those same customers would end up transitioning from the Bjorn to the Ergo Baby.

Now, I’m sincerely not knocking either of those brands or types of carrier, we have and do still carry these brands in our store and think they are rock-stars in the field.  There is a reason that almost anyone you know with kids has a Baby Bjorn, they make a great carrier.  Ergo Baby makes a fabulous line of carriers and really trail blazed this segment of the soft-structured carrier market.  They, too, make a top of the line product.  In fact, I own a well-loved Ergo Baby Carrier myself.

The simple fact is if you are buying both the Ergo and Bjorn new you are spending well north of $200.00 to do so.  The Cybex 2.Go Carrier gives you the option to buy just 1 great quality carrier to get all the function of 2, for $109.00 without giving anything up (feature-wise that is).  That just makes good (dollars and) sense to me.

Britax has purchased BOB Strollers

Big news in the Baby Industry: Britax just bought BOB Strollers.  It’s official and the press releases should go out today.  I can’t help but wonder what this means for the two brands.  Will they continue on as is, both leaders in their respective categories?  Will they merge together and re-brand one or the other (I doubt it, but maybe)?  I’m looking forward to the hearing the details as they roll out this news today.  I do know one thing:  I bet we’ll be seeing a Britax Infant Seat adaptor for the BOB Revolution sooner than later!

Who are the Great Bay Doulas, you ask?  In short:  Krista Maltais (Koru Care Postpartum Doula Services) , Amy Peterson (Hound Hill Doula), and Darcy Sauers (Dover Doula).  The longer answer is best gathered by checking out their website and facebook page, because each woman has different areas of expertise and passion…basically they are pregnancy and newborn gurus.  They are here to assist with everything from baby and registry planning to supporting you during childbirth, from teaching you to expertly swaddle a newborn to helping you find your confidence as a new parent.  These ladies know their stuff and want to share it with you.

There are some details to get out of the way:  The first event, Birth Savvy, begins at 6 Pm on Thursday, September 29th at Baby Go Round, Inc. in Hampton Falls, NH.  This is the first of four events, once a month through December.  Be sure to check out the other events at the Great Bay Doula’s website.  The workshop registration fee is $10 per event, or $25 for the series of four.

I want to sweeten the deal a little bit and offer each participant a Gift Certificate to Baby Go Round in the amount equivalent to their registration fee…a $10 gift certificate for registering for “Birth Savvy” alone or a $25 gift certificate for registering for the whole series!
